Imo: Samdaddy Declares Uzodimma’s Seat Vacant
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the November 11 governorship election in Imo State, Senator Samuel Anyanwu (Samdaddy) has declared the State’s seat of power vacant, admitting that he sees “no one in the government house”.
Addressing PDP stakeholders during a meeting at the party’s state secretariat in Owerri on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, Samdaddy said that the State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has never won an election in his entire political career.
According to the PDP Governorship standard-bearer, Uzodimma stole the mandate given to PDP in 2020 to emerge as Governor.
He added that the APC administration in the State is so unpopular that they resorted to procuring endorsements and defections into the party of people who have little or no electoral value.
Anyanwu who said that he was fully prepared, stated that the 2023 governorship polls will be the easiest battles he will ever win as Uzodimma’s antics will be exposed.
“For me, I don’t see anyone in the government house. In 2019, Imo PDP won the election with His Excellency Rt Hon. Emeka Ihedioha as the candidate, but Uzodimma stole that mandate. Uzodimma has not won an election before.
“The November election is the first time he will be running for an election and I will meet him at the battlefront A government and party that is popular cannot pay people to endorse them and defect to their party. But these are what they are doing.
“Unfortunately, those joining them are doing so for the money. If the defectors are so powerful and important, why couldn’t they deliver themselves in the last election? By the time we win, they will come back,” he said.
Former House Reps member, Jones Onyereri was announced as Samdaddy’s running mate by the opposition party’s state Chairman, Engr. Charles Ugwuh, and Samdaddy, who has held positions as LGA Chairman, State Assembly Member and Senator said that he is partnering with Onyereri to win the election, make Imo safe again and get the masses involved in governance.
“In the Governor’s Orlu Zone, people, especially the young and enterprising citizens, have vacated about five LGAs due to insecurity. We are coming to make Imo safe again.
“We will decentralize government and have satellite Government Houses in Orlu and Okigwe Zones. We will make the LGAs function optimally. The people will be closer to the government and be part of decision-making.”
